Relative Intensity Noise took place on October 10-11, 2025 at Momentous, a festival organized by The Momentary, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR. This page preserves one record of what happened based on 2,542 observations deemed notable over the course of two days.
The event begins with observations of a green light in the back of a building and a man standing in a doorway, followed by the setup of a stage. Inside the building, various individuals, including men in blue shirts or hats, are seen in rooms with windows, wires, or working on machines and projectors. The observations then shift to multiple rooms featuring many windows and wires, and men walking or standing, with the green light consistently noted in the background. Later, the focus expands to platforms, balconies, and individuals, including men in green suits or working on machines, and women, standing, walking, or dancing within these spaces. The lighting becomes more varied, incorporating purple, pink, red, and blue hues, often described as part of a show, concert, or club setting, sometimes with smoke or fog. Mentions of a new office building, later identified as a museum, appear, noting glass walls that reflect the changing lights. Throughout, people are seen interacting, holding remotes, or viewing screens, often under dominant red and blue lights, culminating in numerous scenes of individuals on balconies or stages amidst these colorful, dynamic light displays.
The event commenced with repeated observations of blue and red lights, often originating from red lights in windows or at the back of a building, illuminating rooms characterized by large walls and windows. Within these rooms, various individuals were noted performing activities such as holding a baseball bat, cleaning a floor, or working on computers, with clocks, TVs, and large mirrors frequently present. People were also seen standing on platforms, metal railings, or in chairs. The setting included a new glass wall in a studio and a fire station in a basement. Subsequently, the descriptions highlighted smoke billowing from buildings and pervasive fog across cityscapes and indoor areas, often permeated by red and blue lights, with reflections noted in the sky and on floors. As the event progressed, the focus consistently shifted to a stage, often situated in a basement or theater, where the lighting evolved to include blue, green, red, purple, and pink hues. Numerous individuals populated these spaces, standing on platforms, balconies, or sitting, many holding cell phones, observing or interacting within these diverse, lit, and occasionally smoky or foggy environments.
